I was worried about the crease between the boards, but after making sure that the fabric underneath was smooth and placing them down, it was actually no problem to keep them close enough together that you couldn't tell there was a seam at all! Our issue is the hassle of getting it in and out of the garage, into the house and into the dining room when it is needed. Your two piece idea might be so much easier!
