Thanksgiving Getaways

So many of us travel for Thanksgiving to spend the day, the weekend or even a week with family or friends.  Whenever we have any vacation time, I love to dream up trips we could go on, places we've never been where we could travel--why not Thanksgiving, and just bring the family along, too!  So if you still haven't made your plans yet, or you're wishing you could whisk your family away to a "destination Thanksgiving," here are some tempting travel deals for you.

The Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina, a beautiful full service resort and spa in East Hapton, New York, has reduced its rates up to 60 percent from their summer prices through the end of November. AND if you're looking for a relaxing, cooking-free Thanksgiving day itself, be sure to book a reservation for the Thanksgiving Day Buffet Menu at the Club's gorgeous restaurant, Gulf Coast Kitchen.

If you have a little more flexibility with your travel dates and can extend your getaway beyond the usual Monday-after-Thanksgiving return to work, then these next deals might just be tempting for you.

Seabourn Cruises is offering a 14 day Grand Caribbean Cruise, departing on November 23rd (Wednesday!) from Fort Lauderdale.

With its fleet of intentionally modest sized cruise ships, Seabourn excels at providing an effortlessly comfortable experience on board, at least according to Travel & Leisure, which has awarded Seabourn the prize for World's Best Small-Ship Cruise Line for the past three years. This cruise's ship, for instance, holds a maximum of 450 guests for the trip but boasts a staff of 335 crew members--a heavenly ratio. CruiseLocators reports that mid-priced cruise lines generally have one crew member for about every 2.5 passengers, but ours here has one for every 1.34 of you on board! The lower the ratio, the more attentive and personally tailored you can expect the service to be.

Considering the superior service you'll be enjoying, the gourmet meals and absence of all cheesiness that often haunts a less-expensive cruise experience, this Seabourn trip is a deal at $2,999 per person. And don't forget, that's no windowless interior room you'll be cramming yourself into for two weeks, but a spacious ocean-view suite.

I could definitely release some tension here!

This is your ocean-view suite, just waiting for you to settle in for two weeks of glamour and relaxation.

Your itinerary for the two week trip:

Since our budget wouldn't accommodate such a grown up price at the moment, here is another great cruise idea from Royal Caribbean: 5 nights leaving this Saturday, November 26th from Tampa. You stop at both Cozumel and Costa Maya, and an ocean view cabin is only $299(!) on Orbitz on a ship rated very highly by both ''experts'' and customers.

The ocean-view room you get for just $299 per person. It actually looks pretty spacious.

Such an affordable getaway would save you so much money... maybe for a little vacation treat like one of these?

And if you're up for something even more adventurous, the season for skiing in the Alps has opened up for the winter, and there's no better or more picturesque place for it than in Tirol, Austria's westernmost region.  The Grand Spa Resort A-Rosa in Kitzbuehel--a gorgeous little town just east of Innsbruck, famous for its fantastic skiing--is having a sale on their executive double rooms, making their 5-star accommodations a seriously tempting deal

The charming medieval town of Kitzbuehel:

Can't you see yourself relaxing after a full day of skiing (or snowboarding) in the Alps on this terrace with a little champagne?

For "discounted" (read: fake) Moncler jackets, this one's still pretty cute.
