Sewing Projects

While the house is being torn up to install lighting and plaster over our lovely textured ceilings, I have parked myself out on the screened porch with the dog to get some sewing projects accomplished.

Working on my little loveseat for the porch has been so fun-- something satisfying in the midst of the dusty chaos:)

When I chose these fabrics, I knew that these were not specifically made for indoor/outdoor use, which means that they are fade, stain and mildew resistant. Since this piece will not be sitting out truly exposed but covered on the porch (and because everything was in the $5 clearance pile), I figured I could give it a try anyway.  I just made sure that all of the fabrics are machine washable as well as the pillow inserts and then sprayed it all down with Scotch Guard, which helps to make fabric stain and water resistant.

Viola!  Instant semi-outdoor furniture.
