The Winter Blues

New York is fabulous throughout the month of December, but come January the city can be pretty depressing. The lights and trees come down along with all the festive window displays. So, if your going to make it through the winter without becoming too depressed you must have a plan.
This year the Rev. and I decided to celebrate the 12th day of Christmas, which also happened to be the first day of school for our kids. We figured we would draw out the festivities to get us through our first week back to work and school.

When it comes to dealing with a bleak winter I think you must have some fabulous soup recipes on hand along with fun activities that make you forget you miss playing outside.

Now, when it comes to kids and indoor play throughout the winter you want to choose items that will get you hours of entertainment. There are two activities my kids love; they are art projects and imaginative play. I will share my favorite art materials for kids on Thursday, but for today, I will tell you a little about Janod. They make beautiful wooden toys that are perfect for kids with active imaginations. My kids love the wild west and so when I saw Janod created a western town with cowboys and indians I knew this toy would be perfect. They have already spent hours playing together, just the right indoor toy for the wintery months.

Stay warm, cozy, and above all don't forget to play!

Besos,

Mel
