Roof Top Gardening: Gramercy Park

Last weekend we had a beautiful Saturday here in the city. The kids and our neighbors decided to take advantage of the good weather and began replanting our roof top garden. With a little elbow grease we are well on our way to a healthy roof garden.

A few months ago Liza's mother was in town, and she came to see our roof top.  She shared some wonderful wisdom and suggested we plant herbs and lettuce. I know Liza's mother has a real green thumb, and we took her advice.
Sophia and I wanted to keep the garden organized with labels so as not to forget what we planted and how to care for the garden. We stopped in at our local Home Depot and found everything we needed for labeling, and planting.

Of course like a traditional Mexican family we planted jalapeƱos, cilantro, corn, watermelon, and tomatoes. Since Sophia loves edemame we planted soy as well. Hopefully, the garden is in full bloom by the end of summer. We cannot wait!

We all purchased our plants in the Farmer's Market. I am headed back today to pick up blueberry bushes, which I am more than excited about, and perhaps a rose bush here and there.

Happy Planting!
