Fall Activities for Urban Families: NYC

I have been loving watching Fall via the lense of Instagram. Outside the city leaves are changing and apples are ripe.
Every year the Rev. and I have every intention of taking the kids upstate to pick apples, buy pumpkins, and see the leaves change. As always, our trip is postponed until next year……..

You get the idea right?!

With two weddings within a month and many other family obligations, we knew we wouldn't make it out of town with the Ninos in time for Halloween.

What to do if you are an Urban family living in the city?????????
We pulled out our wagon, and took to the streets of NYC looking for the best pumpkins, apple cider donuts, and hot chocolate.
Here is what our Manhattan Family Fall trip looked like……

When we arrived to the Farmer's Market in Union Square we found beautiful pumpkins, only they were a little pricey. S found a few she loved, but nothing was less then 20 dollars a pumpkin, MUY MAL. Don't get me wrong, I love a good pumpkin, but when you're going to carve them up with a 4 and 6 year old, you're not looking for the perfect, organic, locally grown pumpkin.

I knew Trader Joe's sold pumpkins, too, and I can tell you the ninos felt like they hit the jack-pot. The pumpkins ranged in price from 69 CENTS to 7 dollars. You can't beat that.

The kids found beautifully strange fantasy pumpkins, sugar pumpkins, and gourds. They could not have been happier.

With Tata in town, they bought as many pumpkins as they liked. He was also happy to carve away and play along with the kids' trick or treats.

Happy Fall & Halloweening!
