How to Frame Things Cheaply (Without Doing it Yourself)

Up until recently we have been so focused on other things that we never seemed to get actually to hanging things on the walls, so the whole house has been full of pictures, paintings and mirrors just propped forlornly up against the walls.  I did get around to one major hanging project in the dining room (check out the post here), but the rest of the house desperately needed some attention.  I always find that having friends or family over provides the best motivation to cross off a few last minute items around the house, which is exactly what happened when we threw a little party last week.  One happy benefit of being a painter is that I have a few extras lying around, old favorites that I can't seem to let go of.   Rather than just hang the raw canvases, I decided it was time to go and get an estimate for what it would cost to frame two of them professionally.  Joann's fabrics (along with Michael's or other craft stores) offers ridiculous discount coupons nearly every week in the paper, and I scored one that gave me 60% off, plus an extra $20 off of my total order!  Amazing.

In the end it was such a good deal that I had to do it, and I'm SO glad I did.  Joann's doesn't have a huge selection, but if you can find something you like there and you get your hands on one of their coupons, I would totally recommend their quality work.  And a good frame can go a long way in helping a room feel finished.
