This is a big day! After months of working on the kitchen in our new house, I wanted to post some full before and after photos to give you an idea of what we've been working toward. There should be a huge asterisk in your mind as you scroll through, though, since there are MANY things still left to do, including tiling the backsplash all around, adding crown molding and maybe trim on the cabinets. But here's where we are at this point.
When looking through our photos from this process I came across this one from early on, when they were sanding down the newly skim coated ceilings. I remember thinking that this must be the low point, since the whole house was absolutely full of that awful fine drywall dust, and there was nowhere to escape it. It's nice to be reminded of how far we've come!
Back when we started this kitchen renovation we knew it would probably take months to complete, especially since we were only paying professionals to get us to a certain point in the process. Once the plumber, electrician and the drywall, floor and framing guys were finished with the most important elements of the room, we were left to take over the work ourselves. Hosting Thanksgiving and a Christmas party shortly afterward provided some serious motivation to push through and finish up as many projects as possible, and now we're enjoying taking a little break until after Christmas. Here are the before and during shots (some of these are repeats from older posts, but I wanted to show again the layout changes), in which you can see everything we altered: the old textured ceilings, the laminate floor, the L shaped layout, the two huge (but inadequate) overhead lights, the cabinet color, and of course the range:).
