Indulge Me

I have been flipping through my Paris photos (don't you just love the sound of that phrase?), and I found that I wanted to share just a few more fabulous images with you all. When I said play tourist I really did mean it, so I was sure to visit the Louvre and take in the city. I wondered the streets snapping photos of locals, buildings, windows, anything that caught my eye. I was not in any way embarrassed to be seen with a large camera around my neck.

ONE THING
While at the Louvre you can not help but feel inspired by the interiors of the space. I found the tapestries, chairs, and flooring to be awe inspiring. Here are a few shots that got me going.

Here is what I call YES PLEASE, I will take one of each!
The flooring, chairs, and DOORS could not be more perfecto.

Happy Touring!

The Parisian Dream

I have just returned from Paris and could not be more in love with a city. I was only there for just a brief weekend, but am sure it was love at first sight.

"Paris is a seminar, a post-graduate, a course in everything."
-James Thurber 1918

When I am traveling to a new city I have two goals in mind, GO LOCAL & BE A TOURIST. When my dear friend Jane offered me a chance of a lifetime (a weekend getaway in Paris), I knew right away there were two things I wanted to hit: the Paris Fleas (local) & The Louvre (tourist).

FIND OUT WHAT I DISCOVERED.......

At the top of our agenda was to hit the Fleas, Paris' most famous flea market, on Saturday morning. Thankfully Jane is a fabulous travel companion and had already mapped out our destination, MARCHE BIRON.

I say, if you want to know the locals of any city head to the local flea market. There you will discover their past and culture treasures. Paris' version offered us vintage fabrics, clothing, furniture, and jewelry. I was so impressed and was wishing I had the entire weekend to shop this place.

Jane discovered some new vintage fabrics for here little ones.

For the love of chairs, there were so many to choose from. I was wishing I could just throw a few in my suitcase.

 ODDS & ENDS
I love finding quirky, cultural buys, too. I bought a few things in this stall and thought to myself, this is so Brooklyn.

LIGHTING & REFLECTIONS
The French know how to guild ANYTHING, especially mirrors. I loved window shopping and taking photos for inspiration.

I don't know much about the history of lighting, but what I do know is I have been mistaken to think that Americans have the market on vintage industrial lighting. Restoration Hardware, eat your heart out. Could you just die? And that wall paper?!!!!

DON'T FORGET TO EAT
My goal in terms of food was to partake in as many parisian sandwiches, pastries, and cafe creme.  I also didn't want Jane to pass out, since she is pregnant. So, we were sure to stop for crepes and any other tasty delights along the way.

Off to Paris....

Hello Friday!
I am more than pleased to say January is behind us. With temps below freezing and lots of snow, I am hoping we are truly headed towards spring. Speaking of light at the end of the tunnel. 6 months ago a dear friend gave me a weekend getaway to any European city of my choosing. I have finally received my updated passport, and I am left wondering which city will I visit.

When thinking through my choices, Rome, Milan, or Paris I thought to make a list of pros and cons.

Here is a little insight in how Liza and I both travel. We organize our trips around meals, shopping, and a tad of sight-seeing (we don't want to be totally indulgent). So, in the end I picked PARIS. Why, because of course there are so many important sights to see, the Eiffel Tower etc..... but, what hooked me in where the Parisian flea markets. I can already imagine all the beautiful little treasures I would find and could not live without.
When traveling I always love to visit flea markets, you find the best bits of history and nostalgia. If I am able to find something that lives in my home with its very own place, I am always taken back to city from which the item originated and am reminded of wonderful memories. Also, it is so romantic to think of these little treasures we find traveling all over the world, from one home to the next.

I know just dreaming up my little weekend escape is going to get us through a few more weeks of dreary winter weather and now I left with the dilemma of what to pack. Paris street style here I come!
