Front Door Update

I have been thinking about painting our front door and looking for a color to give the exterior of our house a cheerful, welcoming look.  There are so many fun choices, but Jady has always wanted a red door, so we went looking for just the right shade.  Here is the before shot again:

The paint we chose was Behr's "Licorice Stick," a fun red with a hint of pink.  Although we bought the self priming exterior paint, I still went ahead and primed the wood to be extra safe.  The last thing I want to do is to have to strip it all and try again!  I filled in the few holes with wood filler, and we were ready for the fun part.

I am so happy with how the color turned out, bright and cheerful without giving you a headache:)

Happy Monday!

Fancy Fridays

I just joined Pinterest this week, and what a rabbit hole that site is!  I felt a little bit like Alice in Wonderland navigating through all the many beautiful images. While I was creating my boards, I ran across these two photos below.

How inspiring are these two images?  I felt compelled to improve our breakfast experience from bars to something a little more substantial. Since I am a realist and know what it takes to get out my door, I realized there is no time for pancakes or poached eggs, but I knew I could come up with something more thrilling then a fruit bar.
So, I went for the soft boiled egg, which looks fancy and takes a total of ten minutes to put together. What do you think? Do you have a quick fancy breakfast?

Happy Friday!!

Fall Brights

I have discovered that I can usually avoid shopping for clothes if I just don't go near a store-- but if I ever do stumble into a mall, I'm bound to find something that I love and can't live without.  Just the other day I was running an errand and had a little time in the mall... what do you know?  I came home with some great finds.  Thankfully Old Navy's prices are so low that even picking up a few things won't derail our home renovation budget:)

I know they are always having a sale there, but I picked up a pair of their Rockstar jeans on sale for only $20, and they're adorable!  They come in a full palette of gorgeous colors, too, so I might have to pick up just one more pair...

And for when the weather gets cold, this same style comes in cords, which were on sale, too.  So cute!

Just because school has started again and the leaves are beginning to change doesn't mean that your bright colors need to be packed away.  The runways are full of saturated colors that promise to brighten up any chilly day.
